"Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain." (Psalm 127:1)

"Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:

And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches." (Proverbs 24:3, 4)

For every question that we have, the Lord always has an answer.

Have You Received the Holy Ghost?

Receiving the Holy Spirit is a wonderful experience. New converts may feel that this is the end of their search for God, and the rest of their lives will be a breeze. After all, God is not only with them but has taken up residence within them.  Receiving the Spirit may be the end of their search for God, but it is only the beginning of their walk with God. The term new birth is an apt description of the salvation experience.  We all have to keep growing in God's grace. Just as babies grow to physical maturity, as newly born Christians, we must continue to grow spiritually.  When new believers begin to walk with God, they soon find that even though the Holy Spirit is in them, their human wills and freedom of choice are still intact. It may come as a surprise to find that God does not control their actions as a puppeteer controls a puppet.  Although we are saved by God’s grace and not by our own works, we must choose whether to follow God’s direction or go our own ways. Why not make your decision today and never, never look back.  Looking back puts one in a category of being not fit for the kingdom.  Amen?

Time to Turn

Often times we live our lives and deal with the same problem over and over again.  Although we know we need to make a change, we refuse to and just keep wandering.  Listen to the words of Moses today and consider making a change.  Perhaps you have been around this "mountain" long enough.  “Then we turned around and headed back across the wilderness toward the Red Sea, just as the Lord had instructed me, and we wandered around in the region of Mount Seir for a long time.  “Then at last the Lord said to me, ‘You have been wandering around in this hill country long enough; turn to the north" (Deuteronomy 2:1-2).

We have been studying the 12th chapter of Romans for more than a month; we have barely moved beyond the 10th verse.  In view of what Paul addresses through the first 11 chapters and especially chapters 9, 10 and 11, he is now admonishes the addresses to make major changes in their life styles.  This changes involves a complete change, or what Merrian-Webster dictionary regards as a "major change", a major change perhaps in one's thinking, a major change in one's walk (Halak in Hebrew), a major change in one's character.  After all, in view of what Christ has done...grafted us in...its the reasonable or logical or smart thing to do.  Paul emphasizes the need to be transformed by the renewing of the mind. It is imperative that one in not CONFORMED or fashioned like the world or follow its pattern.  We are to be TRANSFORMED but not just anyway.  It must be a renewing of the mind.  First Peter 4:1 states, 'For as much then (emphasis added) as Christ hath suffered for us (emphasis added) in the flesh, arm ourselves with the same mind:"  How do we arm ourselves with this same mind.  Glad you asked:  Read, pray and study God's word is a great starting point.  Ready, set, go.
