Elder's Blog

We are living in a day and time where there is much unrest around around the world.  Taking another person's life is rampant, people are frightened about ebola, leadership in Washington remains divided and seemingly there is no remedy in site.  There is also major concern as to what the new president will do...or undo.  Right now, it is pretty clear that his first few days in office has missed his promises.  In spite of all of this, the Word of God lets us know that there is a way that seems right to man but the end is death.  So, the answer is to do it God's way and live.  Christ gave His life for all of us -- why not give our life to Him.

When Satan Comes

posted Mar 9, 2017, 4:21 AM by Antonio Lundy   [ updated Mar 9, 2017, 4:23 AM ]

On the evening of March 8, 2017, Minister Victor Smith spoke from Job 1:8-11 about Satan and how he has a way of showing up uninvited with a plan to work againt the servants of God.  He also tied in Luke 22:23-33 as well as 1 Peter 5:8 pertaining to the devil and how he "prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour".  Don't let it be you (NIV)!  But "behold", pay close attention the devil because desires, has as his agenda, to sift you and I as wheat.  Don't let it be you!  As Victor said, thank God that Job was a man of integrity, a perfect and upright man who feared God and avoided evil.  Let this be you!  Conversely, Peter had some issues early on but in the end, this (as some would say) loudmouth young servant, came through in the end, was converted as Christ had so stated and went to be one who would strengthen the brothers.  Let this be you!

As the Life Application Bible states, Satan was originally an angel of God but became corrupt through his own pride. Don't let this be you!  Know this!  He tries to hinder God's work in his people...but know that he is limited by God's power and is able to do only what is permitted (Job 1:9-12, Luke 22:31, I Timothy 1:19,20, 2 Timothy 2:23-26).  Remember, he is an enemy because he actively looks for people to attach with temptation (1 Peter 5:8,9).  Don't let it be you!

Unlike God, Satan can only be in one place at a time and has no ability to read your mind. If he did, he would have surely known that Job would not bend under pressure.  Let this be you!

And thank you Brother Victor, for being steadfast and unmoveable and always abounding in the word and work of the LORD.  You are indeed his servant.  So continue to strenghten the brothers.

The dictionary defines stability as the state of being resistant to change and not prone to wild fluctuations in emotion.  It involves firmness of character, purpose or resolution.  Our stability lies within Christ who gave His life that we might be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12).  In the renewing of that mind, we have to be determined to take a stand against anything that seeks to make us unstable and easy to knock us off center or causes us to fall or get knocked down.  The enemy seeks to get in our mind but that is not God's desire because we know that, "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways" (James 1:8).  Other scriptures that address the subject of stability include:
2 Peter 2:14 View whole chapter Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
2 Peter 3:16 View whole chapter As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Be Ye Perfect

posted Jan 24, 2017, 6:38 AM by Antonio Lundy

Is God looking for perfection in you and I (Matthew 5:48)?  Answer.  Yes He is.  Yet you are thinking that because of Adam's sin, you are born in sin and shaped in iniquity.  Iniquity is a word we should study one day.  Back to perfection.  Recall that when Abram (not yet Abraham) was 90 years old and nine (99), Yahweh appeared before him said to him, "I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect" (Genesis 17:1).  Let us delve into this word and see exactly what Yah was asking Abram to do.  The Hebrew word for perfect is tamiym, spelled with the Hebrew letters tav, mem, yod and mem (final closed mem).  It means to be whole, entire, sound, healthful, unimpaired, innocent, having integrity.

Blue Letter Lexicon goes on to clarify and states, "what is complete or entirely in accord with truth and fact".  The root word is taken from strong's 8552 and among other things, means to be finished, be completed, come to an end, cease, be sound, to make sound, and yes, deal in integrity and act uprightly.

In other words, going forward is being born again, be known as one who is said to be blameless in your new yalak (direction) and halk (life style).

Goals for Your Life

posted Jan 16, 2016, 3:35 PM by Antonio Lundy

This will be a good year to set some goals for your life.  Remember that if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.  Don't allow this to happy in your court.  Young people in particular need set goals for your life.  For the last few months, I have back and forth on a particular Tube teaching where the Pastor was teaching on the topic: Goals for your life. Great teaching.  And if you want to have good success, setting goals is certainly something to consider and do.  Here is a gist of what he said.
  1. Goals:  Goals must be God-centered....God must be first in our lives.
  2. Objectives:  Along with goals are objectives, things we do along the path to your eventually goal(s).
  3. Ability:  Do you have the ability to reach your goals and objectives.  Football players prepare each week for their upcoming match with an ultimate of winning the super bowl but winning the necessary games to get there
  4. Labor:  Not only do they prepare, they must labor on the field, Having talent and never using it doesn't make sense and subject to loss.
  5. Scores:  No team can ever win the Super Bowl without scoring, again and again and again. It takes persistent and the ability to outperform the opponent and winning each game.

The Number 66

posted Aug 8, 2015, 8:42 AM by Antonio Lundy

The number 66 has been showing up in my life almost on a daily basis. And I have been constantly trying to figure out why.  Could it be that the LORD wants me to do an in-depth study on the book of Isaiah, which just happens to contain 66 chapters? With that in mind, I have begun to read this book.  Go with me and read over just the first chapter and listen to the vision concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
  1. Reared children, brought them up and they have rebelled against me
  2. Sinful nation, loaded with guilt
  3. Children given to corruption
  4. Spurned the Holy one of Israel and turned their backs on him
  5. A desolate country with cities burned with fire
  6. Fields stripped by foreigners
  7. Enough of burnt offerings, of rams and the fat of fattened animals
  8. Incense detestable to him
  9. Soul hating the the New Moon festivals and their appointed feasts...weary of bearing them
From just the first 14 verses, it is evident that the Lord was not happy with them, but he does not give up on them.  This is a rhema word for somebody today.  Instead of giving up on them, he reaches out to them to "come now, let us reason together".  He goes on to say, "If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land." Not the worst...but the best.... In the 66 book of the Bible, God is reaching out still, but now to the seven churches.  For example, to the church of Ephesus he says, "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God" (Revelation 2:7).  To every church he states "He who has an ear, let him hear". To every church, he says they must be overcomers.  Are you an overcomer? If not why not? Remember the words of Christ letting us know that in this life we will have tribulation, but we can be of good cheer because He has overcome the world.  So today, whether you are 66 or 6 + 6 or 6x6, then why make a change today and be a overcomer, washed in the blood of the lamb.

Never Give Up

posted Dec 5, 2014, 5:49 AM by Antonio Lundy

While on this earth, our temporary home, there will be times in your life that will want to give up. Don't.  Keep reaching and pressing toward the mark, knowing that there is a crown set aside for you as well as who are just and a just want that lives by faith.  Don't be remembered as one who turned or looked back. Remember the words of Hebrews as well as Genesis:

Hebrews 10:39  Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

Genesis 19:17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.....26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

When God has brought us out of Harm's way, and we choose to look or turn back, it can bring an immediate end to one's life.  For Lot's wife, some may look at it as a little things but it is the little things that spoil the vine.

Salt of the Earth

posted Oct 28, 2014, 7:38 AM by Antonio Lundy   [ updated Dec 5, 2014, 5:53 AM ]

"You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless"   (Matthew 5:13, NLT).

I remember years ago when Albert and I worked in Markus and Sons Grocery store.  We sold those herrings, the ones that was in a five gallon container, soaking in salt brine.  Brining is an age-old process for preserving meets and quite possibly, for other things as well.  Anyway, whenever a customer wanted those herrings, one of us would have to pull them out of that container and package them for the customer.  If we got the brine on our hands, like onions, someone close to you would certainly know that we had been in the herring brine. For us, a good handwashing was needed to rid us of the smell of brine.  What about the customer who bought the herrings?  Well, in order to eat those herrings, the customer had to soak them all night, changing the water along the way.  Even with that, the flavor of  the salt would always be there.  As salt is to meat, our conversations should also be seasoned with salt (Col. 4:6).

Our Lord and Master Jesus Christ told the discipes they were the salt of the earth.  I do believe the disciples understood the salt covenant that the LORD made with David and his sons in 2 Chroniles 13:5.  Note that it was a perpetual covenant. "Ought we not to know"? "Ought we not to know" that today, we pick up the covenant of salt. We should have a lasting impact or effect on the people we meet. Does salt ever lose its flavor or saltiness?  So if we have received the knowledge and understanding from the teachings of the set man as well as personal and conistent Bible study, waliking in truth, then you are likely to have a lasting, positive impact on those in your circle of influence.  By the way, if you want to test the herrings to see if they lose the saltiness after an ovenight soaking, visit your nearest Food Lion and purchase a pack of salt herrings.  They go really good with grits and those Pillsbury biscuits.
